So I Take My Kid To See A Chiropractor…

29 September, 2010 (23:43) | First Cut | By: Stone

So my son has been dealing with colic for weeks and weeks. My friend at work suggested that I go to see his chiropractor. I was thinking, “Really? Seriously?” I couldn’t imagine having someone jump up and down on my nine month old’s spine.

I mean, I’ve been seeing a chiropractor for years. I’m not interested in “wellness” or making sure that I have “good nerve flow.” I just know that I feel better. I used to have back pain a long time ago, but a good chiropractor helped me with that already.

After getting adjusted for a few weeks, I had no more pain. Worked for me, but I remember initially feeling like the guy was getting a running start at my spine. Then I heard enough pops and cracks to think that someone was making popcorn nearby.

So why would I want someone doing that to my child? Well, it worked. Turns out they don’t do all the twisting and popping on kids that small. It was more like the chiropractor used his pinkie finger to apply some pressure at the upper part of my sons neck.

I didn’t hear anything and my son slept through the whole thing. Better yet, no more colic. My wife is excited and we’re all getting so much more rest. Of course now I have to buy my friend lunch since he suggested it and I bet him it wouldn’t work.

Turns out he was right, but it will likely be the only time this year that he gets something right. He “suggests” lots of things for me to do, and hardly anything goes the way he thinks it will. It just turns out that this time he was right.
